Emma is a freelance bassoonist and has recently played with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Ballet Sinfonia. Other orchestral highlights include playing principal bassoon for Shostakovich Symphony No.5 and Sibelius Symphony No. 2. Emma has performed at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall several times, most recently with the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (RBC) symphony orchestra, playing principal bassoon for Ravel’s La Valse as well as with the CBSO youth orchestra playing principal bassoon for Shostakovich Symphony No.10 and Tchaikovsky Symphony No.5.

Emma also enjoys performing as part of chamber groups such as the Tuulta Wind Quintet and has done a variety of performances with the Bassoonatics bassoon ensemble during her studies. In solo recitals Emma enjoys performing works for bassoon that are well known as well as bringing hidden gems of the bassoon repertoire to audiences.

Emma has been a member of the RBC LEAP Ensemble as a bassoonist since 2021 and has been involved in several performances and workshops across the country. For more information about Emma's teaching and outreach work click here.

 

​Emma is currently in her final year studying an MMus in instrumental performance with Nikolaj Henriques, Sarah Burnett and Gareth Twigg at RBC.
